Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival

One of the many beautiful streets in Jinhae.

On April 5th I went to Jinhae for the 53rd annual cherry blossom festival! We’d had a lot of rain the day before (so much so that they cancelled the baseball), so we were a bit worried that the day was going to be miserable. However we were in luck, and the rain managed to pretty much stay away all day.

This is a photo post more than anything, as after checking out all the blossoms we mainly just wandered around looking at food stalls until we quite happily ended up at McDonald’s. Sometimes that’s all you need.

Blossoms near the bus depot and a couple walking by the river.

First we headed off the find the “Romance Bridge” which had been recommended to us by multiple people. On the way we got a bit lost and ended up seeing a lot of the city streets (including the bus depot), but this was still great as there were blossoms everywhere! I see now why Jinhae is such a popular destination for viewing the blossoms.

Finally we found the Romance Bridge and it was packed! It was also beautiful.

Lovely photos my friend Brittany took of the Romance Bridge.

Some more of the colourful umbrellas under the Romance Bridge.

After walking all the way around (on and under) the Romance Bridge, we found a lovely park with a huge lake in the centre.

This park was gorgeous even on an overcast day – the mist just added to the atmosphere.
Thanks again Brittany~

We walked around most of the lake, before heading back into the town area to find some food and check out all the stalls at the festival. I’m glad I went, however I don’t think I would go again as it was very busy! I can only imagine how busy it would have been on a sunny day. However the blossoms were beautiful and I would definitely go and check out a less popular area in the future.
